Club Meeting September 3, 2026 Speakers: District Governor Jack Alspaugh & Art Zeitler

The meeting will be held at the Coastal Bend Food Bank, 5442 Bear Ln. Lunch begins at 11:45 AM,  Meeting from 12:00 – 1:15 PM, Cost is $22 for Lunch or $7 for Non-Eaters. Join us as District Governor Jack Alspaugh brings news and insights from across District 5930, including updates on the work and priorities connecting Rotary clubs throughout South Texas. Art Zeitler will also share the latest progress on Rotary’s Guatemala water catchment project and its impact on communities needing reliable access to clean water. Join us Thursday to hear how Rotary is making a difference both across our district and beyond.

What does it mean to truly matter—and how can that sense of mattering lead us to a more purposeful life?At Thursday’s meeting, Dr. Joshua Watson, Dean and Regents Professor at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, presented “Living with Purpose Through Mattering.”Dr. Watson explained that mattering begins with the belief that we are valued by others and that we add value to the world. Through attention, appreciation, inclusion, and connection, we help people recognize their own significance and the impact they can have.He also connected this message directly to Rotary. Our club gives members a place where they know they matter to one another—and where their time, talents, and service matter to the community. The relationships we build within our club create a sense of belonging and purpose, while the work we do together turns that purpose into meaningful action.Dr. Watson challenged us to consider who matters to us, why they matter, and what they may need from us right now.
