March 21, 2019 meeting

Rehtmeyer, Carol

Carol Rehtmeyer, President and CEO of the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, will be our program speaker on Thursday.  Ms. Rehtmeyer was recruited to serve as the Executive Director of the Corpus Christi Museum of Science & History where she remained as its Director until mid April 2016.  After a successful bid by the Friends of the Corpus Christi Museum to become its managing organization, she returned to the museum as its President and CEO October 1, 2018 making this the first time in the 63-year history of the museum for it to be run by a not-for- profit.

The Museum’s 40,000 square feet of history and science exhibits are a collection of carefully selected representations that are unique to our culture and our surroundings. The historical collections showcase 500 years of South Texas history. From historic shipwrecks of early explorers to decorative arts from area families, these exhibits give you an up close look at the life and the people of our region.

Rotary Club of Corpus Christi
Our Rotary Club of Corpus Christi members rolled up their sleeves for a meaningful roundtable discussion centered on this year's theme, Love Does. Together, we reflected on what makes our club special, explored ways to strengthen member connections, and identified practical steps we can take to make an even greater impact. Some of the biggest takeaways from the conversation included:💙 Building stronger connections by personally reaching out to new, returning, and non-attending members.🤝 Preserving the traditions that define our club while embracing new ideas for growth and engagement.⭐ Turning ideas into action with simple, achievable goals over the next 30 days.❤️ Remembering that the heart of Rotary is people—serving together, welcoming others, and creating a place where everyone belongs. The conversations don't end here—they're just the beginning. Together, we'll continue putting Love Does into action as we strengthen our club and our community. We also had the privilege of recognizing Chris Horn as our 2025–2026 New Member of the Year! Congratulations, Chris, and thank you for the enthusiasm, leadership, and servant heart you have brought to our club. We are grateful to have you as part of the Rotary family. We wished our Youth Exchange Student, Michaela Vidolva, a fond farewell as Marissa Ford presented her with parting gifts. Michaela returns home to Slovakia on July 18, and we thank her for sharing this unforgettable year with our club.
