Leslie PeartSuraidaNañez-James

The Texas State Aquarium’s Leslie Peart, Vice President for Education and Conservation, and Suraida Nañez-James, Manager for Distance Learning and Outreach, will share some exciting highlights of the Flint Hills Resources Center for Excellence in STEM Education.

The Center brings together best practices and innovation from the fields of education, research and industry to advance STEM education in south Texas and beyond.  One way the Center is bringing once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunities to students is through LIVE distance learning programs from around the world.  The latest event took students on a virtual journey to the middle of the Pacific Ocean where they experienced life at sea and watched as scientists explored the World’s Largest Volcano aboard the research vessel Falkor.

Thursday's meeting reminded us of the extraordinary knowledge and experience within the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi @followers.Moderated by Jonathan Williams, our interactive program brought together Paul Broderson, Justin Butts, Jim Mailhes, and Kathleen Clark for a practical conversation about estate planning, financial security, long-term care, family communication, funeral preplanning, and wellness.Members continued the conversation with table leaders Edgar Munoz, Jarrod Bolliger, Ernest de la Garza, Jessica Prukop, John Holloway, Suzel Mendieta, and Kathleen Clark—asking questions, sharing experiences, and considering steps they can take now to protect themselves and their families.Preparation is an act of care. Conversations like these can prevent unnecessary complications and provide greater peace of mind before a crisis occurs.Thank you to Jonathan, our panelists, table leaders, and everyone who participated. We also thank Bea Hanson for the invocation, Mary McQueen for leading the song and pledges, Kyoko Amano for the Four-Way Test and introductions, and Steve Black for his Coastal Bend HUB update. This is the quiet power of Rotary: members sharing their knowledge and compassion to help one another and strengthen our community.#RotaryClubOfCorpusChristi #ServiceAboveSelf #PeopleOfAction ...
