YWTeen Women Mentor Lunch

YWCA

Female Rotarians are invited to have lunch, share your story and listen to dreams of the female teens participating in the YWTeeen Leadership Camp.

YWTeens is a character-building program for 5th & 6th grade girls in our community.  Through the summer, weeklong Leadership (day) camps are preventive and focus on teambuilding, decision-making, career exploration, handling bullies without being one, and taking care of yourself.  Numerous speakers come in each week to share their stories, open the girl’s eyes to the world outside their zip codes and encourage them to be all they can be.  The YWCA works with girls BEFORE they make life-altering decisions in their lives.  YWTeens happens all over the community during the school year and at the YWCA during school holidays and summer. It is exciting for the YWTeen girls to have lunch and visit with our female Rotarians once a year.  Not clear who enjoys this more–the girls or the Rotarians!

The YWCA’s mission is to Eliminate Racism, Empower Women and Promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.  It does this through their programs and events both at their facility and in the community.  Therapeutic Recreation and Fitness happen in the YWCA facility–geared primarily toward Baby Boomers and beyond–to maintain their mobility, flexibility and independence, while making new friends.
